Famously refered to as Kof
town and located in the cool mountains in Eastern Region
Ghana, Koforidua town is the capital of Eastern Region.
It serves as a commercial center for the region and was
founded in 1875 by refugees from Ashanti.
The Ashanti refugees
were mostly from Ashanti Juabeng, hence the city is also
known as New Juabeng. Koforidua (New Jabeng) is made up
of several mini towns including Effiduase, Asokore,
Oyoko, Suhyen, Dansuagya, Betom, Srodae. The Polytech is
of of the finest polytechnics in Ghana.
Koforidua is noted for
its beautiful natural forest environment with many small
waterfalls. The Ladies of Koforidua are known for their
beauty and famously referred to as Koforidua Flowers. |
